Olive Harvest 2026/27 in Crete Has Started: Our New Organic Olive Oil Is Coming

It is George here. Many of you know me as Olive Oil George from the videos. This weekend we start the olive harvest 2026/27 here in Sitia, in the east of Crete. For us this is the most important time of the year, so I want to tell you how it looks.

The olives this year look very good

I will be honest with you. This year we were lucky with the weather. The trees are full, the olives are healthy and they look fantastic. When I walk in the fields now, I am happy. Not every year is like this, so we don’t take it for granted.
From what I see on the trees, this harvest is very promising. Good olives make good oil, it is simple like this.

When will the new olive oil ship?

The harvest runs from mid October until mid November. After we harvest and the oil is ready, we fill it. The first orders of the new harvest will ship from the end of November. You get the oil fresh, from this season, not from last year.
Last season all our oil was sold out. So if you want oil from the new harvest, it is better to order early.

Something special this year: Field 07 early harvest in a clay bottle

Beside our 750 ml tins, this year we do something new. We call it Field 07.
The first field we pick, we press separately. This is early harvest olive oil, from olives that are still more green. Early harvest oil is usually more strong in taste, more green and fresh, and you feel the pepper in the throat. Many people love it exactly for this.
We put this oil in a 500 ml clay bottle. The bottle is made from stoneware clay, and it keeps the light out, which is good for the oil. There is only a small amount of it, because it comes from one field only. And I will tell you openly: we only fill the Field 07 bottles if the oil is as good as we expect. If not, we don’t do it.

Direct from the farmer to your table, no middleman

We are a small operation. We grow the olives, we harvest them, and we send the oil to you ourselves, from here in Tourloti, where the olives grow.
There is nobody in between. No distributor, no big warehouse, no supermarket. You buy directly from the farmer. Your money goes to the people who do the work in the fields, and this helps small farmers like us to keep going.

Organic and PDO Sitia

Our olive oil is certified organic extra virgin olive oil with PDO Sitia Lasithiou Kritis. PDO means the oil comes from this area and is made by the rules for this area. For us it is just how we always did it.

Questions people ask me

When is the olive harvest in Crete? 
In Sitia Region we usually harvest from October to December. This year we start in mid October.

What is early harvest olive oil? 
It is oil from olives picked early in the season, when they are still more green. It gives less oil per tree, but the taste is more intense and fresh.

When will the 2026/27 olive oil ship? 
The first orders ship from the end of November.

Do you ship to the UK and the US?

Is your olive oil organic?
Yes, it is certified organic and PDO Sitia.
